What are the Rules for Brush Pick-Up?
Due to new State Guide lines, the Shamong Township Public Works Department will go through the Township ONE DAY ONLY each Spring and Fall to pick up brush that has been PROPERLY left in the Township right-of-way. 

RULES FOR BRUSH PICK-UP MONDAY 
 
  • ALL BUNDLES must be properly placed in Township Right-of-Way and out by 6:00 AM Monday morning.
  • ALL BUNDLES must be tied with string/twine only (No Wire, Plastic or Nylon).
  • Brush cannot be larger than 6 inches in diameter nor less than 4 feet in length.
  • No firewood length (12"-24") OR wood/branches longer than 8 feet in length will be accepted.
  • Leaves cannot be included in the brush bundles (the chipper does not grind leaves and Township has no place to dispose of leaves).
  • NO LEAVES, POISON IVY, BRIARS, lumber, railroad ties, fence posts or rotted/decaying branches please.
 
REJECTED PILES WILL NOT BE RECONSIDERED!
 
Please remember, brush pick-up is provided as a free service to our residents who are cleaning up the yard around their house. It is not to remove bushes, stumps, trees and other debris resulting from plant removal, lot clearing, pool installation, construction, additions, new decks, etc. Removal of debris resulting from these activities should be arranged by the homeowner or the contractor. Bundles resulting from these activities will be rejected and other removal arrangements will have to be made by the homeowner at their expense.

How do I find my polling place?
Your voting district will be printed next to your name on your sample ballot.

If you are unsure of your election district location, you can call the Municipal Building during business hours.
Where do I apply for a dog license?
NEW JERSEY law requires ALL DOGS over 7 months of age to be licensed in the local Township.

Apply in Person or Mail Request with Payment and Required Documentation to:

What is Required:

  • A copy showing proof of spay/neutering if applicable.
  • A copy of a valid rabies vaccination VALID THROUGH at least November 1st of the current year. 
  • 2023-2024 Payment Info: 
    • $12.00 per year for spayed/neutered dogs                                     
    •  $15.00 for all other dogs.

When are my real estate taxes due?
Real Estate taxes must be received by the Tax Collector on a quarterly basis.  Due dates are February 1st, May 1st, August 1st & November 1st. 

There is a 10 day grace period, however, payments received by the Tax Collector after this grace period will be charged interest calculated back to the 1st of the month due date.
When is the Construction Code Official available for questions?
The Construction Code Official has office hours on Tuesday evenings between 6:00-8:00 PM.  Please feel free to contact the Construction Office (M-F 8:30-11:30 AM) with any questions at 609-268-2377 x305
